Since its establishment in 1956, the Korean Orthopaedic Association has evolved to be one of the largest medical associations in the Republic of Korea with a membership of over 7,800 and 24 subspecialty-societies. During the past 60 years, the Korean Orthopaedic Association has contributed to national healthcare by successfully organizing various national-level meetings and congresses.

Recently, the Korean Orthopaedic Association has proved its enthusiasm in exchanging ideas and fostering new collaborative partnerships by hosting several various international orthopaedic conferences including the 9th Congress of World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (WSRM 2017), the 30th Annual Congress of the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty (ISTA 2017), and the 13th International Congress of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (ICSES 2017).
